Only gave it a star because you have to put at least one; it doesn’t deserve it that’s for sure! Let me start off by saying I have used K&N products for years in my car. I’ve come to know and love the quality, durability, and performance that K&N offered over the competition. So when I heard about this new product I was quick to order one for my home. With that being said this product fell way short of my expectations that K&N had fulfilled in the past. Let me explain, I ordered a 16”x20”x1”(a very common size) it came quickly Thanks seller and amazon prime you guys are still good in my book (full refund in the works no cost$$). Anyway, when it got to my house I couldn’t wait to put it in. I read the instructions provided by the manufacturer and quickly noticed something wrong when I set my old 3m card board filter next to the K&N filter (still in the product packaging). The old filter was about the same size or bigger than the new K&N filter still in its packaging. I took the rest of the filter out of the box thinking there might be some gasket or adjustments that can be made. Nope! There is not! The filter out of the box measures 19.5/8”x15.5/8”x5/8”. I called K&N customer service first as it says to do in the instructions, who said “we make them small to fit different variances of hvac systems”. This is not a sufficient answer. They know for proper filtration the filter must seal. I tested it anyway. You could hear air whistling around the filter and when it shut off the filter falls and clanks as it hits the return vent gate. My furnace is nothing unique or special. The 3m filters I normally get come from lows or Walmart and fit perfect of course when I measured them with my tape they where in fact what they say they are a 20”x16”x1” so please save yourself the hassle and don’t by one of these. Your health depends on it!
