Let me start this by stating that I don't like gummi bears, nor does my husband and we rarely have them in our house. However, a few months ago, one of my family members shared a link to the brilliantly written comments on these gummies. My husband and I laid in bed for a few hours after the kids went to bed dying laughing at the comments. We vowed to buy some someday and made a "Hit List" of people we wanted to share them with. That was pretty much the end of it....so we thought. My husband's grandparents come down to visit a few times a year and drown my kids in sugary sweets every time they come. As a result, my 4 and 5 year old are absolutely out of control for the entire visit while they're here. I spoke with them about at least toning down the sugar a bit. Maybe giving them goldfish crackers instead of gummies, etc. This weekend when they visited, they brought little snack bags full of gummy bears for the kids as usual. My daughter was busy coloring and didn't eat too many of them. My son, the little vacuum cleaner that he is, devoured the gummies barely even chewing them first. About an hour later, he jumps up, runs to the bathroom in a panic and says he has to poop. He's been potty trained without a single accident for over 2 years and he handles himself in the bathroom, so we just let him go. He yelled for me to help him. The scene that ensued was straight out of a horror movie. My adorable, potty trained four year old, turned in to a crying, hysterical bubble gut fountain. I had no idea what was going on. He seemed fine all night. He didn't act sick, he ate all his food. What in the world was happening? I couldn't figure it out. Later on that night, his grandma says, "Oh by the way, I know you don't like the kids to have a lot of sugar, so I bought sugar free gummy bears". My husband and I looked at each other in horror. "Were they Haribo by any chance?" I asked. "Yeah, I think so, why?" ..........................Threw every single bag of gummies into the trash! lol
