Palstic part of the lid and window is made of non-FDA approved plastic. They used ABS plastic non-heat comparable, once it heats up it smells as burning plastic. These parts are supposed to be made of LEXAN GE, Polycarboneate plastic. which is most expensive but the only one type approved by FDA for Food containers, and medical devices. Buyer be ware. This item smells like ''crap'' it effects the smell and taste of your tea and coffee and probably poisens your liver.
