★★☆☆☆
A little to close to "Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek"
I am a librarian and grew up not too far from Eastern Kentucky region that was home to the pack horse librarians. I read the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek last spring and have been recommending it ever since. I saw this book on vacation and needed a relaxing read. I've read JoJo Meyers previous books and thought they were perfect light vacation fare. So another book on pack horse librarians by an author I'm familiar with--perfect right??? It was a little too close to the first book. I didn't catch the characters having same/similar names, but I did recognize several of the side stories. Books about the same group of people in the same time period are bound to have similarities but honestly it was just a little too close. And in writing a book and trying to change the story from one already written, one of the best parts of the previous book was left out. On the plus side it was light enough reading to make the layovers pass quickly on my vacation.
