It worked perfectly for about two and a half weeks. At this point, sound began to transmit only to the left side of my headphones. I traced the problem to the female end of the cable. By unscrewing the cap I noticed that the part of the metal that meets the plastic underneath appeared to be partially melted and very loose. Upon examination, this fell apart; I noticed that two of the three metal prongs inside were extremely distorted and the plastic had a similar appearance. I have provided a few pictures illustrating this.
