Ok at first.
Options are nice, and worked well at first. However, it's ruined 2 batteries on my now. One was a small lawnmower battery that i thought was a fluke. The other was my marine-grade AGM Optima battery, which had been functioning just fine. I wanted to top off the AGM before it's next use, and to let it stay on Float mode for maintenance. When I connected the unit, it showed the battery as having around 70-75% charge, and was charging at about 5 amp. I let it go overnight, figuring it would kick into Float mode. Well, when I checked on it in the morning before work, there was a pungent sulfur smell when I opened the door. The charger showed it was charging at 15.6amps and the top of the battery was budging and hot! I immediately shut the charger off and moved the batter outside.. UPDATE: I contacted the parent company, Baccus Global, and the issue was escalated to a Sr. Product Manager. I was told they would test and/or replace the unit. They had me send in unit, along with documentation (photos, replacement cost, etc.) of the ruined AGM battery. After a month of not hearing anything, I replied to the manager, who said I should be hearing from their legal department regarding the results. Ironically, when I got home, there was a package waiting for me. It was the old charger, and a letter from their legal department. They claimed they tested the unit, and it's "working within parameters", and that they will not do anything regarding the ruined battery. So, this will be the last Black and Decker product I buy.
