★★☆☆☆
Overall, fine, but have some concerns...
Alright, so lion's mane itself is great. Love it. This review is about this product in particular though. This formulation contains 10mg of BioPerine at the recommended serving, which is a bioavailability increaser. This obviously helps you get more out of the lion's mane - but there are articles out there that suggest it may interact with some medications, which leaves me with concern. There's some fine print warning about this on the bottle, but it really should be emphasized more: if you're taking any medication, I feel like you should check with your doctor before using this. I know I will. (Note: they have updated the packaging since this review. I do not yet know if this has changed.) Some other things of note, they claim this is both organic whole fruiting bodies, and third-party tested - I've asked to see the results of the third party testing and was denied initially. It's taken this review getting a lot of attention to finally be offered them - but it should be something easy to request and get in my opinion. It's important to check the levels of metals, mycotoxins, and pesticides in mushrooms. They also claim this is "ultra-high in Beta-Glucans" without....stating a minimum content. This is useless if you're trying to compare between products. Throwing around phrases like this without transparently backing them up is a little worrisome to me and doesn't earn my trust. If all their claims are true, then barring emphasizing talking to your doctor and making it easier to find all this information, this seems like a great product.
