We buy these in the hopes of never having to use them. I just lost power from IRMA for 6 days -143 hours and mine ran only 40 hours of that. Generac Service Technician quotes: 1. This unit should NOT be run for over 24 hours. 2. There is no alternator on the unit to charge the battery. 3. there is a trickle charge battery charger to charge the battery when your power is on. 4. This battery charger DOES NOT WORK when generator is supplying power to the house. Generac has made a fortune selling equipment that is usually never used. I really needed it and only then found out about all this. What is more, Generac is unapologetic about it, just this is the way that it is. Caveat Emptor. Ask these questions!!!
