Stopped working after 3 dead rats, piece of junk!
See update at end of post: product is NO LONGER AWESOME. This.Product.Is.AWESOME. I tried everything to humanely disperse of the rats that took up residency under my deck but when they started bravely roaming around freely during the day time, I decided it was time to step up my game. I read the reviews about keeping this outside and since it's summer right now with no rain in the forecast, I decided to go for it. My Zapper came yesterday and because I seem to have very ballsy rats, I went for the kill right away instead of keeping the switch turned off the first night to lure them in like some reviews suggested. A few pieces of dog kibble and a tad of PB scraped on the back wall, I flipped the switch, tucked it safely under my deck where I have noticed them coming and going and went to bed! I woke up Sunday morning, ran out to check the trap and....Lo and behold! I could see the fur sticking out the metal grate in the back! I GOT ONE! I dumped it in a bag, didn't even have to look at it! Re-set the trap, flipped the switch, placed it in the same area under my deck and not TWO HOURS LATER, I could see fur again sticking out the back metal grate. I pulled the zapper out, saw the blinking light, dumped it with ease into a bag and re-set the trap for the third time in less than 24 hours. I also have placed cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil around and under my deck. Not sure if that is having any effect but here's hoping between the zapper and the oil I can kill and then deter any rats who hope to seek shelter underneath my deck. Lastly, since the previous reviews were chock full of pictures with proof that the zapper works I decided to forgo taking one myself to upload! And also because, well, it's gross! But check out the other reviews if you need proof it works! Update : after the zapper killed a third rat the product completely stopped working. I literally watched a rat go in and eat the food and leave while it was turned on. I tried replacing the batteries but it didn't help. Not with the money considering it was supposed to last up to at least 20 kills.
