I've had this charger since May. It's now November 1. I keep it in my workshop so it's not used daily. Tried using it today and it was humming and crazy hot to the touch. It also wasn't charging. Of course I unplugged it immediately. Yes, this was plugged in to a surge/outlet protector thankfully. An Apple product should last and not try burning a building down in less than 6 months.
