We were visiting my parents in a different city and got into a car accident. We were T-boned by a large pickup truck going 45 mph. The direct impact was on my son's side. Luckily, the impact was on the frame and the door (the other car did not penetrate), and we were OK. However, my son ended up getting his face pretty beat up as his right chin hit the door - and the car seat was useless as I found it on the floor of the car after the accident. We correctly threaded the lap belt through the loop. We bought this for travel, but we will not be using it any more. I could not believe that this thing slipped and fell to the floor during the accident. NOT RECOMMENDED.
