15 years Jordan...finish it already!!!
The first Wheel of Time book was released 15 years ago, that's 1/4 of the average human lifespan. People who bought the first book as an adolescent teenager, are now grown adults with teenage children of their own. People who were sent to prison for multiple homicides have served out theie terms and been relased, only to find that they are not behind in their Robert Jordan reading list.
What exactly is Jordan thinking? DRagging this series out far, far beyond human endurance, and nearly lifespan, and now he releases a PREQUEL, before the actual series is finished?????
Jordan started out realeasing a WOT book every year, and that's not unreasonable for a trilogy, but for a series of 10+ (nobody knows how many it will be), that's simply not ok. Even worse though, it started to stretch out to 2 years between books, and now even 3 years in some cases. This is insane.
Years ago, fed up with what I call the "trickling trilogy" publishing method, I decided I would never again read a book in a series that wasn't actually COMPLETED. Jordan reminds me of why every time I think about it.
Well, I'm done. I'm done with Jordan, I'm done with the WOT, just sick and tired of this whole series. The books have groud to a halt, the publishing has ground to a halt, I suspect Jordan himself has been deceased for a while and TOR publishing is hiding that fact.
Let me pose this hypothetical question to readers and publishers alike:
Knowing that a series is unfinished, and no set date for finishing or even number of books exists, what possible motivation would someone have to begin reading it?
I feel like someone owes me my money back.
