Two failed drives!
I would warn against the purchase of this 2 TB external hard drive. Western Digital WD Elements 2 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive WDBAAU0020HBK-NESN The drive seemed fine on arrival, and accepted two different software's backups and direct copies to a folder, but when tested refused to mount backups and responded with "I/O device" errors. Attempts to retrieve direct copies resulted in `data not found' errors. The replacement drive (provided by Western Digital on RMA), is physically defective. The USB port is misaligned in the case, making it impossible to connect the USB cable to the device. ` I suspect that the first one has a less obvious hardware error internally. From what I read in other reviews all WD replacement drives are refurbished, which is telling - How many of therir drives must fail that they have a steady stock of refurbished machines to shunt out. I daresay mine will go back to some poor soul who may discover too late that the device is simply a failure.
