I would steer clear of this dash cam.
This camera has been a disappointment from the beginning. The picture angle is too wide causing pincushioning and poor enough resolution that license plates couldn't be read. The thumbs screw that sets up and down adjustment stripped out and I had to send it back to be fixed. That fix lasted 100 miles at which time it re-stripped and the side to side swivel failed , leaving the camera dangling from its wires. I had been using the camera in my car up until last week when I mounted it on my Goldwing for a long trip. This is when it fell apart. Wheel Witness now tells me this was improper use of the camera and apparently I am left dangling just like the camera. I gave it one star because you can't give zero.
This is an update: Wheel Witness has indicated that my camera is no longer under warranty because I misused it by mounting it on a motorcycle. They would, however, out of the goodness of their hearts , fix it if I changed my rating to 5 star. I told them that this would
defeat the purpose of a customer rating and that I would be willing to update my rating based upon the camera's performance after repair but that wasn't good enough. I've requested a refund but they refuse to respond to me anymore. I spoke to Amazon but am outside the 30 day refund window. So I'm stuck. Don't you get stuck too. And since my warranty hung on my rating, it makes me wonder.
Here's another update. After re-contacting WW, they claimed they would fix the camera. But after many months of back and forth, they would never tell me how to make the return. I finally bought a set of miniature JIS screwdrivers so I could fix it myself. After disassembling the mount, the problem became obvious. The thumbscrew is brass. the nut it mates to is steel and is a really bad (very loose) fit. No wonder it strips easily. I've seen this problem before on Chinese products. I told WW if they'd send me a new thumbscrew, I'd fix it myself and they'd never hear from me again. After the usual back and forth wherein nothing was actually accomplished, they wanted me to delete this review. I told them again that I would amend my review to reflect my opinion of the camera after it was working. Silence reigns.
I bought this camera in February 2016. It is now September 2016 and I got maybe 10 hours use from the camera. I'm astounded at the lameness of the people at this company. I would have bent over backwards to keep a customer happy. In my business I've taken a loss to do so. But these guys don't seem to care.
If they require a 5 star rating from a customer or a deletion of a bad rating in order to repair defects in their product, I would wonder how many negative ratings have disappeared from here.
The camera isn't too bad. The mount sucks and will fail. The people you will have to deal with are not people you'll want to deal with. Buy a camera elsewhere.
By the way, I'm pretty sure after many years of buying through Amazon, I have never given a negative rating. These boys deserve it.
