Caution Flammable
By law, bedding in the US must pass a flammability test. Consequently, foams used for bedding are often treated with flame retardants. I was curious how flammable my new 2" memory foam topper was as I wanted to use it in my boat so I took a chunk of it and exposed it to an open lighter flame. It ignited almost immediately and burned readily with an open yellow flame. It did not self extinguish. I suspect it would not pass 16 C.F.R. § 1633 for residential bedding much less International Maritime Organization (IMO) Fire Test Procedures Code (FTPC).
