Doesn't deliver on its coverage promises
The coverage map I used to make my decision to purchase Karma showed 100% coverage for the zip code I wanted to use it in, so I went ahead and got the device plus 7 gig of data up front. When I finally got to use it (it was at my elderly mother's residence), I couldn't stream netflix or other video. I could still get facebook and do email and surf the web (it was very SLOW though). When I rechecked the zip code on the Karma website, they had dropped it to 97% of her zip code. Today when I checked the same zip code, it was dropped to 84%. I feel like I was ripped off. This was the only place that I needed the Karma to work and it is in a major metropolitan area (Alexandria, VA) with complete 4G coverage by other providers. I like Karma's fee structure (data never expires; pay only for what you use), but they shouldn't have assured me that it would work in her zip code when it wouldn't.
Update: November 5, 2013. I emailed Karma about my disappointment concerning what I felt to be their misleading coverage maps. (I contacted them because I had purchased my device directly from them.) They offered to refund my money which shows to me that their customer service is working well. I haven't taken them up on their offer, opting instead to continue to use the device with my tablet for everything except video streaming (which it just cannot handle with the weak 4G signal at my Mom's home.) However, I was in Falls Church today getting my car serviced and I used the device there where it had a strong 4G signal and I have to say it was really impressive. Too bad that the strong signal strength is the exception rather than the rule.
