Over the years I have used a variety of scratch repair pens, and most of them worked the same. You used the scratch pen along the scratch, it absorbed into the exposed scratched wood, and you wiped away the excess. If the color was not an exact match it was okay, because only the exposed scratched wood absorbed the color from the pen, making it a nearly invisible fix. Not so with these pens. These pens are essentially like magic markers, and if the color does not match EXACTLY, you end up with big, fat magic marker trails all over your wood, contrasting with the normal wood color. The excess does not wipe away, even if you wipe it immediately. It does not appear that these markers contain actual wood stain, unlike the Minwax pens. With the Minwax stain markers, you draw them along the scratch, then follow up by wiping the excess away, and the only color that remains is that which was absorbed by the exposed wood of the scratch, no muss, no fuss. I'm throwing these away and going back to the Minwax markers.
