This is not pure Nicotonic Acid (Niacin) so what else is in it?
What is in this that does NOT dissolve? Nicotonic Acid (Niacin) has a solubility of 1000g/L, therefore one gram should dissolve in a few teaspoons of tepid water. But one gram does not dissolve, not all of it--ever. A portion settles out as a white insoluble something. So what is the something? This product purports to be pure Niacin (B3 = Nicotonic acid) but if that were so it would totally dissolve in a glass of water and it does not, not even after 24 hours. Tablets have binders that may not dissolve but pure B3 should! Put a gram (one scoop) in room temp water, stir and let it sit for a day and see? (Unless I got a bad batch). I expect purity. I returned it.
The photo is one level scoop (~1 gram) placed into a wine glass with about 6 ounces of tepid water, stirred for 30 seconds and left sitting for 24+ hours. The camera is looking down into the glass through the water. So what is the insoluble white stuff?
As far as the flush on ANY B3 it's simple: Start with 1/4 gram for 4 days then go to 1/2 gram for 4 days and so on, if you take one gram and have not been taking it, prepare to stand in a cold shower, though it is totally harmless. This is the important part: Take 1/4 of a single aspirin 30 minutes before you take the Niacin (check with your Practitioner if aspirin is ok for you) And don't take it on an empty stomach, eat something, unless of course you want to feel like you've been sprayed with acid (again--totally harmless). And btw, NO amount of B3 will change the metabolites that are used for drug testing. That's just a wive's (or pothead wive's) tale.
