Overpriced and unreliable
I bought half dozen of these in June before an international trip. I ponied up the ridiculous price because at home test kits were rare then, and the FDA-approved, PCR-equivalent blah blah sounded very convincing.
We ran one test on my seven-year-old daughter before the flight. The lights indicated both positive and negative at the same time. We had to toss that one.
When we arrived, my husband took a test. It lit up positive. Alarmed, he did two more. Both negative. He went to the lab for a PCR test the next day, and it was also negative. Let's just say that was a very expensive false positive.
We tested my daughter again, one positive, one negative, PCR follow up also negative.
Overall, these caused a great deal of grief and anxiety, cost a lot of money, and really undermined my confidence in rapid at-home tests. (I now use whatever they sell at the drugstore, which is cheaper and so far, no false positives.)
