I have been using USB-C to display port cables to connect my MacBook (Model A1707) to external displays. I needed an additional one to use at home as I left my cables at the office. When I connected this cable, I heard a buzzing noise, the laptop made a noise indicating it had stopped charging and then started again. Then, the computer shut off. Nothing I have tried or anything my company's IT Department has tried has been able to revive it. EDIT: Apple Verified that this cable caused a short in the USB port which led to the failure of the main logic board of the computer.
