Horribly disappointed! While the writing and editing are OK, everything else was terrible. I bought this because it was inexpensive and the main character has a dog. I love dog stories. Everything was downhill from there. Please tell there are not 4 people in the world who are that stupid. The characters make one dumb decision following another. OK, I realize it is fiction; but if it was to be comedic, it missed the point completely. I RARELY give up on a book once I've started it but found the characters in this one so annoying I finalyl just quit slightly over half-way through. The killer for me was that the main character is supposed to be so attached to his dog, but throughout the book he never once feeds the dog a decent meal (providing him NOTHING but burgers from McDonald's and some table scraps) and gives the dog beer daily. I kept waiting for him to stop giving the dog beer and get him some decent food; when that never happened, I just gave up. If your "hook" is going to be a dog, please make some effort to at least feed it properly. Is this guy a dog lover or just an idiot with some dumb luck? I won't bite again.
