Bought this for storage of important files (photos and design projects). While it's a huge storage and a great price, I had a "HARDWARE FAILURE" within the first month and a half. Just long enough to do a ton of important work. Now I'm paying hundreds of dollars to try and recover the data. PURCHASE THE DATA PROTECTION COVERAGE!!! The tech said they get a lot of business trying to recover seagate drives. Maybe just because they are popular, but also sounded like the 4TB model was more common to have issues. Reality is that all portable hard drives are at risk of failure or data loss. Consider getting two 2TB versions and using one to back up the other because one of them will certainly fail.
