This toy is awful - could be better with a few changes
My husband and I hate this toy. It's fine in the learning/telling time mode (as long as you ignore the annoying voice) but the quiz mode is awful. Yes, it gives you three chances to guess the time, but it assumes when the hands have stopped moving for about 2 seconds that you are ready to officially submit a guess. If your child takes a small pause in turning the hands, it says, "sorry, that's not right, try again". Frequently my daughter knows the right answer but she pauses and it tells her she's wrong. Plus the hands have to be wound like a real watch - so let's say it gives you 10:25 first, then 4:40 - you have to wind it past 11, 12, 1, 2, 3 and 4 - in other words you can't move the hands independently so you can't easily just move the little hand from the 10 to the 4. It is nice for them to see how the hands work together, but without a "submit my guess" type of button, it's just a recipe for a frustrated kid. I almost threw it in the trash a year ago and ended up sticking it in a box of old toys instead...and my daughter just found it...I was hoping at 4.5 instead of 3.5 it would prove less frustrating, but boy was I wrong.
