I am sure that for other types of dogs this product works great. I bought it because the reviews seemed really solid, and my dog has been suffering with either allergies, or dry skin, or both, for over 2 months. I had taken him to the vet, changed his food multiple times, given him allergy medication, and I thought that maybe a conditioner would help. I followed the directions, let it soak in his fur for five minutes after a full application, etc. Everything seemed fine, until he was dry. His itching had been more mild than it had been in awhile when I gave him the bath, and now suddenly, he began to itch with an insane fervor that I hadn't seen since I had to take him to the vet for allergy medication. He couldn't stop. I then gave him a brushing and literally dry skin dust and huge amounts of very dry papery fur were coming off my dog. He has never shed this much after a bath! I had to put his cone back on for over 3 days until his skin began to get its own oils back. I have a red Merle Australian Shephard, and perhaps this product just doesn't work on my aussie, or other Aussies. All I know is that it was very drying to both his fur and his skin and I will never use it again. On another note, after returning him to his normal diet and dousing his food with salmon oil and kelp(seaweed) for pets, his itching is completely gone.
