Buy beware!! Poor craftsmanship / Dangerous. You won't get your money back
This is a story of heartbreak, disappointment, frustration, and general misfortune. Buying this was one of the biggest purchasing mistakes I've made in a long time and it has become a total nightmare and curse. Just after 30 days (of course beyond refund period), an internal screw comes loose. This caused the shaft / stem to be very wobbly and rendered the scooter dangerous. It caused me to crash - I got really bad gash on my knee, a black eye, neck pain. The tire was full on sideways after my crash - had to kick it straight to roll it home. (Other reviewers have complained about the tire not being perpendicular to the handle - careful). The screw was too big to fall out but the tip of it would poke out, preventing me from locking the stem upright for riding. I had to tip the scooter over, push the screw in and then snap it upright before the screw became lodged in the opening again.
I get into contact w/ Ninebot and they tell me to ship it back for warranty repair (you pay for shipping and packaging there). I take it to the ups store and it's going to be $140 to ship it back. That's nearly a quarter the cost of the scooter!! After battling extensively w/ the company they offer a courtesy shipping label (don't get your hopes up about this should you get the ninebot curse).
They get the scooter. They say they can't see anything wrong. WHAT? There's a full on screw hanging out of the bottom. Apparently it wasn't there upon arrival or it fell out somehow. There was miscommunication about what the problem even was even though I sent pictures and an accurate description. Then when I tell them about the wobbly shaft / stem he says oh yeah it does seem kind of wobbly. That have my scooter for THIRTY DAYS.
I get it back today, no screws to put the handle bar back on. The original screw (or one that looks identical to it - the one that caused the compromised integrity) falls out of the box when I opened it. Did they even do anything? The shaft is still wobbly. I don't even feel safe on this scooter in this condition.
It was making a bad squeak / creaking sound after a few weeks. The repair guy mentioned that and said it's some parts in the back not fitting together correctly and that he'd have to contact ninebot china. Never heard if that got resolved and can't ride it since I can't put the handle on.
Dockless scooter company Bird has ES2 models around town in San Diego, I ride them daily since I've been without my scooter. I know it's not supposed to feel that loose. They won't give me a refund. And what's the point of sending it back for warranty repair when they don't fix the issue.
I got duped out of $600 and I feel totally helpless and "screwed".
