A Potty-Mouthed Take on "The Secret"
Compelling on the surface, this book is a rebranded "The Secret", full of woo about "power of positive thinking" and rife with poorly concealed religiosity. This wouldn't be a problem if that's how the book advertised itself; I simply wouldn't have purchased it. However, it arrives in a Trojan horse of true "look within yourself"-style motivational self-help. To me, that was disingenuous.
Here's an example of the "woo" I refer to. This is from chapter two:
"...what is important is that you start to develop an awareness of, and a relationship with, the Source Energy that's surrounding you and within you (which is all the same energy)... All of us are connected to this limitless power and most of us aren't using but a fraction of it."
This is meaningless hogwash.
TLDR: I was sincerely hopeful for this book, but was ultimately disappointed when it turned out to be pseudoscience drivel.
