Not mushroom but grain concentrate
For a mushroom to provide medicinal benefits, they need to contain high beta-glucans, which means high quality mushroom. What the company sells is mycelium mass, which translates into getting the whole grain used to grow the mushroom and a bit of the mushroom and grain all of that into a powder and put it into a capsule, so maybe you're getting around 2-3% (at most no more than 10%) of actual mushroom and mostly just grain.
The company should be clear about what they sell and not deceive the costumer. Label should be more specific about low beta-glucan content. If you are looking for Lion's Mane for its medicinal properties and neurological benefits, grain powder will not help, you need to buy the purest form of mushroom (not mycelium mass) and that will cost you around $30 usd a bottle.
I have tried several brands of Lion's Mane and I could definitely tell the difference between other brands and Swanson's. With other brands (of pure mushroom and not biomass), after 1 hour of ingestion I noticed a difference in concentration, memory and other mental abilities. With Swanson brand I did not notice any effects after 2 weeks of daily consumption, I even took 8 grams a day and felt nothing, when with other brands I definitely feel a big difference in my regular mental state with just 1 gram. I know mushroom and this product will not provide the medicinal benefits you might be looking for by consuming lion's mane.
