My husband works in water treatment and testing, so he works out of a vehicle and eats lunch where he happens to be when the time hits. I bought this bag because I thought it could handle the 6 hours it has to sit in a vehicle before he eats or needs cold water. He ate a hot salad and drank hot water today (which I imagine isn't pleasant, especially working in this heat all day long!). The sad thing is, I chilled the bag, there were 3 layers of freeze packs, 1 on the bottom, 1 in between meal container and water bottles, and 1 on top of the water bottles. He sat it under the seat, car parked in the shade, so it was given more opportunity to keep cold than most lunch bags are and still failed to do so. I'd suggest only purchasing this bag to carry meals and not to keep them cool, so only purchase if you have a fridge at work to put it in. I guess he can use it if they choose to install a mini fridge in his truck (and when pigs fly).
