DANGEROUS FOR CHICKENS.
Do not buy this tractor unless you are willing to make immediate alterations for the safety of your chickens. I bought this to house my three French bantams who weren't getting along with my other chickens. It's a great size for them and very cute. The UV 'screen' that comes on this tractor is nothing more than a cheap, thin. almost foamy plastic that is slipped into the braces of the top of the small yard. It came already in the frame and felt like a more secure, hard plastic. I had no reason to not think it was securely in the frame. I finished putting it together about midday and put my chickens in it with all their stuff right in the backyard. We're in southeast Kansas on thirty acres, but it's mostly pasture. They were out there for about three hours, seemed pretty happy. I go to yoga class at 5, I'm gone for about an hour. When I get back, the UV screen was pushed into the tractor, because it's apparently as FLIMSY as PAPER, and one bantam was missing with the other two huddle in the house, panting. And there were muddy paw prints on the screen, maybe a weasel, possum, or fox. Something had been able to get in and take one of my babies within hours of setting it up. This could have been EASILY avoided if the design hadn't been so flawed. If they had simple put wire over the top along with the UV screen, nothing could have gotten in to my chickens. And I think eventually I would have realized that the screen wasn't so safe and stapled wire to it myself, but this product failed literally a few hours after I set it up. I guess I should feel lucky that whatever it was just took one of my chickens and didn't hurt the others. It must have been something small. Really, after seeing how flimsily attached the screen was, ANYTHING could have gotten in. It pops right out. Also, there is no door on the chicken house. That means that anything that could get into the yard could get into the house. This is bad for the nighttime. I did realize this when I put it together, but I planned to put a door on it myself eventually. I'm going to try to fix this tractor and use it but what a terrible price to pay. The design needs to be fixed and if you do get this, make adjustments so you don't lose a chicken like I did.
