We purchased this door, because we loved the idea of setting a timer for it to open and closed. Installation went fine and the door was functioning properly. We didn't have any problems for about a week. Then one evening, we went out to make sure our chickens were all tucked in the coop and found two of our girls smashed to death. It was a horrible sight and heartbreaking. Grateful my husband and I found them, not one of our children. They had fallen asleep and didn't wake up. The door moves slowly, but it is very quiet. By the time they woke up, it was too late. So now, we will not use the "automatic" feature, and could have made a regular door for free. We also customized our shed to fit this particular door, so we are stuck using it on manual. At nearly $200 the company should be able to have some kind of safety measure/sensor in place. I have looked back at other reviews....there has been others affected this way. Also, the company should place a warning in their product description. I email the JVR company twice, and finally received a reply. They offered a few suggestions which were not clearly explained at all. Not impressed at all with their customer service. HOWEVER, Amazon's customer service was absolutely wonderful. They were very compassionate and could not have done better with our situation. We have always been impressed with Amazon's customer service. Truly hoping this review helps prevent others from going through such a difficult situation.
