This REDUCE COLD-1 mug gets 5 stars for beautiful ergonomic design, super comfortable handle, flawless exterior finish, and very innovative 3-in-1 cover. However, I docked 2 stars for defective insulation, and 1 star for a prominent raised seam running from the lip to bottom on the inside of the cup (this latter doesn't concern me much). The first thing I always do when receiving any insulated cup or jug is to run a simple test out of the box...before removing any stickers, etc. I fill them with ice and water and wait. Received 2 different cups in this order, and the other passed with flying colors. Not this one. After 2 minutes, the outside of the cup felt cold...and after 5 minutes, condensation (sweat) started forming. This is irrefutable evidence that the vacuum between the walls is gone, rendering it a simple uninsulated double wall cup...totally ineffective for keeping the contents neither cold nor hot for an extended period (the main reason we spend the extra $$ for an insulated mug). Thank goodness for Amazon's convenient, no-cost return via UPS...which I already did the day after receiving this. I'm not dinging the manufacturer for poor QC, as stuff happens statistically in mass produced items...and I don't think there's a post-production test for vacuum that is cost effective. Accordingly, since I absolutely love the design, I gave it 2nd chance and ordered another one. Now, if it fails my test again, I'll change my tune and write a more negative review.
