Having developed adult onset asthma, I decided to pick up an air purifier to help with the light symptoms I was having at home. With all of the descriptions on being able to help asthmatics and this filter being "certified", I went ahead and bought it. After running this filter in my house for about a week I had to call 911 to have an ambulance take me to the hospital for an almost complete breathing failure. Moral of the story is, after an extended stay in the hospital, the doctors discovered that the ozone put of from the ionizer part of this filter actually can make asthma worse and can cause serious asthma flare like the one that hospitalized me. This combo of this filter's carbon and HEPA is great but as long as the ion part is OFF!!!! Please do your research before buy a product like this to help with your asthma. I wish I would have done mine before a nice ride to the hospital. I've now taken the time and found plenty of research showing the dangers of ionizers, ozone, and asthma.
