I like the design and concept of the candle holder. That being said... I took this out of the box and set it up. I lit the candle and let it burn for about an hour, or until the candle self-extinguished. I was unhappy with the smell that it gave off, but using the principle of charity, I gave it the benefit of the doubt (maybe the first lighting of the wick smells off, and it would be fine later?). The next day, I lit the candle again and let it burn for another hour until it self-extinguished. Again, I was uncomfortable with the scent it gave off. On the third day, with about 24 hours since the last time the candle had burned, I invited a friend to the room and just waited to see if they would comment (unprovoked) on the the smell. "I'm sorry , but this room smells like piss." said my friend. I agreed, and presented the new candle, and without getting too close, we could both confirm the candle as the source of the stench. I immediately disposed of the coiled candle, but spared the holder. Days later, the foul odor still permeates, and it is just too cold right now to open the windows. I would also like to note that while the candle burned, I noticed a familiar feeling in my nose and throat… have you ever been in a car with someone while they are vaping? This was a similar irritation. I understand the the candle is not supposed to be scented, and that it is made of beeswax, so I do not understand why it stinks so much. 2 stars because I like the holder, but the candle is disgusting. I would be open to trying a replacement candle if it were scented (in a scent that I like). Although, at this point, I am not willing to spend any more money on this thing.
