Saddened by how bad the game is...
To start with... since Amazon can't verify my purchase I took a pic and included it with the receipt from Target (only paid 30$ for the game 1 week after release). TLDR: The game is bad... really bad... and I'm talking just about the game... not EA's awful customer relations or the political non-sense... The game needs serious help and honestly... it's stuff they can't fix.. like how the characters feel/move and level design. OK... so I've always been a HUGE Battlefield fan; like the biggest FANBOY there has ever been for Battlefield games. There isn't a single Battlefield game that I haven't put at least 50 days of actual in game time into (seriously... it's sad I know but I love them). That being said... This game is awful. This was the first Battlefield game I've not pre-ordered.. I had a feeling they'd be dropping the price almost immediately and I was right, I bought it for 30$ from Target. I was still sort-of excited even after all of the bad reviews but let me say.. within seconds this game disappointed. The sound is horrible. The graphics are a step backward after BF1. The gun play is just... bad. The animations are so terrible I actually have laughed out loud at times watching the characters run around. The game-play makes me question if this is a Battlefield game. The menu system is click happy, you can never get to what you want without at least 5 clicks (seriously... 5 clicks minimum). The level design is so amateurish I have to wonder if they even play tested the levels. The game is filled with glitches and bugs (If I explained them all I'd be writing the next Harry Potter series so just trust me... it's extensively buggy). Almost all of the game modes are missing. The micro-transactions are plentiful; I mean there are probably at least 1000 things you can buy with real world money... just why? Lastly... it takes AGES for servers to get enough players to be playable.... I wait at least 5 minutes to start a game a lot of the time and usually in a 64 player server we've got about 20-25 actually playing... That's due to poor sales, I'm sure. Which leads me to the last thing.. only because everyone has been talking about it... The political non-sense EA has decided to embark on. They've spent so much time worrying about identity politics that they neglected what was important... their game... and it's caused sales to be poor and people who've actually bought the game to put it down almost instantly because the game is so bad. The 50% off retail price in week 1 is a great indication of how poorly they are doing. I own the new COD (first COD game I've bought since MW2 btw) and I exclusively play the female characters; hell I even dig the chicks voice (in BFV the female death sound is like fingers on a chalkboard) but COD doesn't claim to be an authentic representation of history either so... who cares. In all the games I play I always choose the female character type, they have tons of benefits, usually the hit-boxes are smaller and for whatever reason playing a dude feels weird if I can choose. Having said all that... EA has gone about the whole female in the game thing absolutely wrong... between calling people uneducated and telling folks to not buy their game they've done a lot of damage to the brand and I'm not sure it's going to recover under the EA name. To sum it up... I buy games based on the quality of the game, not the politics surrounding it but I think the next time a company focuses so heavily on politics (whether I line up with their view or not) I'm just going to pass on the game... it just means they're devoting their efforts in the wrong area and I really doubt anyone can build a good game when they're trying to manage a PR front that is totally unrelated. BFV is and absolutely horrible game and it's not worth ANY price. It's not even worth the pain of playing if it were free. And that just sucks.. because I was really looking forward to a new Battlefield game...
