Disappointed mom returning ASAP!
A friend of mine recommended this book to my family. I was apprehensive at first because of the high price for a paperback however the price was lowered and proceeds from the book are donated to pediatric cancer. My kids are book junkies so I figured why not. I do find it strange though that there is no mention of the donation in the description. After reading the book with my kids, not only did I find incomplete sentences, misuse of punctuation, and spelling errors but my children (5 and 6) were underwhelmed with the story. They also both question if it was an adventure if they never left the house. The mouths of babes are very telling. It did touch on kindness AND sharing but my issue is based more so on how it was written. I am returning for that reason. A donation to pediatric cancer is not a good reason to spend $15 and expose my children to poor writing (even for a children's book) and incorrect grammar. Scholastic books have so many better options for children's developmental reading with more relatable stories and cheaper costs. Since pediatric cancer donation seems to be the number one reason most purchase this book, I would recommend finding a pediatric charity close to your heart and donating directly rather than purchasing this book.
