Unfortunately, I live in an apartment that has smokers all around me. As a non-smoker, I prefer not to inhale my neighbor's second-hand smoke. My apartment smells like an astray on most days. I bought 2 of these. I placed one in my tiny bathroom to get rid of the smell in there and there was no change to the smoke smell in there. I placed the other unit in my bedroom and no help there either. I recently took the until out of the bathroom and replaced it with a Levoit unit and the Levoit unit cleared the air. I am now leaving that Levoit in the bathroom, where the smoke smell is the worse and ordered 2 more Levoit units for the rest of the apartment. The Levoit units are more expensive but seem to get the job done.
