Myself, a Chinese American, born in mainland China. My best advice for you (folks are interested in Chinese culture): 1) If some local Chinese supermarket available in your area, most likely you'll enjoy the better price there, bigger the market the better in general. The price online is insane; 2) The SHAOXING wine (Huangjiu) is from the region of SHAOXING in mainland China, the correct authentic spelling is in PinYin: SHAOXING, [NOT SHAOHSING, that kind of spelling used in Non-mainland China]; 3) My family is of ShaoXing origin, my several relatives still live in ShaoXing, the truth that I've learnt from them is that it's not easy to buy the real high quality of Shaoxing wine (Huangjiu). One prominent producer of Shaoxing wine is Zhejiang Gu Yue Long Shan Shaoxing Wine Co., Ltd. (古越龍山) of Shaoxing, Zhejiang. There are way too many factories produce it and so label it "Shaoxing Huangjiu" aren't real. For cooking, "those copy cats" of low quality (but too pricy listed here) Shaoxing wine is just fine BUT there is a real concern, as it said that not just this Shaoxing wine, also often other wines or beers, the liquor produced in China sometimes is questionable in food safety. If you feel too confused, the simplest, best and safest bet, just simply avoid it if you really concern about the safety, unless you're pretty sure about the wine producer.
