I returned this piece of garbage. I have very alkaline tap water. I’ve known this for a while and I bought this ph meter to help get a hold of that situation since I was trying my hand at hydroponics. Got it out, followed the directions and rinsed with distilled water. Then made my first reading of my tap water. The reading was ERRATIC, but averaged 4-5. Keep in mind my tap water is alkaline. So I thought I need to calibrate it and it’ll be fine. So I followed directions carefully (which are TERRIBLE) and inserting into the 6.86 solution and holding the CAL button it calibrated it for 4.0. Lol, now it’s reading my tap water at 0.38 hahahaha!!! I thought I had to be doing something wrong. Went to YouTube and found the videos everyone talks about. Their procedures didn’t work either, you cannot choose which calibration you want on the meter. It chooses for you. And if you have a unit WILDLY off out of the box, you’ll never get it calibrated. PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! DO NOT BUY!! ONE STAR IS TOO HIGH, ID GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF POSSIBLE. If you need a good ph meter do yourself a favor and spend the money on a good one. There are no shortcuts with these cheap Chinese toys.
