I don't often write negative reviews but this is a truly unsafe design for young ones and resulted in the injury of our toddler. There are two issues with Radio Flyer's design of this scooter that we hadn't considered when purchasing: 1. The wide set wheels in the front and narrow set wheels in the rear does allow for some extra leg movement when the kid is pushing the bike, but it makes the bike very front-heavy. 2: The flat platform covering the axle of the front wheels is a natural place for your kid to put his feet on while either coasting or being pushed around by their parent. I've attached a video so you can see what I'm talking about. We picked this bike up a little early for our kid thinking that he'd develop into it and maximize the usefulness of it before he grew out of it. He loved the bike and figured out pretty early on how to push and steer. The problem is that once he got a little older (and a little bolder) he tried to stand up with his feet on the front axle's platform. Even at a complete standstill, the bike instantly flipped over and he smashed his face into the pavement, bloodying his face and chipping his front two teeth. Thankfully he wasn't moving, and thankfully the injuries were somewhat limited as his teeth did not punch through his lip. New parents/friends of parents thinking about purchasing this item: it would be easy to think that we should just be militant about keeping our kids' feet off of the front axle, but its a natural position and even the best behaved toddlers are spontaneous and have a very limited working knowledge of mechanics, fulcrum points, and basic physics. A simple design fix would be to move the front wheels 4-6 inches or so forward so that they are in front of the handlebars instead of directly underneath. As-is, this thing is way too easy to flip over and as much as our kid loved this bike, we would advise parents to stay away and consider something else.
