Once again, I wonder where all these glowing reviews come from. First, this device does make a very nice zapping sound, which is a little fun. However, it doesn't kill the bugs. This seems to be a non-lethal solution, probably designed by a pacifist-entomologist. There is a protective mesh on each side of the electrified metal in the middle. The mesh is very tight and bugs rarely get hit by the electrified portion and are more likely just to bounce off the outside, making this more like a swatter and less like a zapper. So you have to swing it really hard, in hopes to push the bugs through the mesh, which causes the battery cover to slide off. If you do happen to zap a bug, it just stuns it, then it gets back up, mocks you, flies away, and spreads a little poop on your half cut avocado when you aren't looking.
