The main bowl cracks in normal use where it attaches to the base, causing the machine to not function at all. The first time this happened replacements were available. They are reasonably priced. No big deal. The second time this happened was during the holidays last year (November). We have been a waiting list for a new main bowl since then. It's August of the following year. Absolutely do not buy this under any circumstances without verifying that replacement main bowls are in stock. And, frankly, if you're going to invest this much, you should go ahead and buy several spare main bowls if you find them in stock. Because it's trash otherwise. FWIW we (family of eight, nearly always cook from scratch at home) replaced this with a $50 Hamilton Beach while waiting for the main bowls to be back in stock. It works fine.
