A truly terrible book
No, no, no, no! I cannot understand how this got so many five- and four-star reviews! It is badly written, poorly plotted and just ridiculous. The protagonist is an FBI agent who wakes from a coma following a car accident, with amnesia. The same day, she leaves hospital and goes to work on a case, including going scuba diving to check out an underwater crime scene. Seriously? She is supposedly a feminist, but refers to every other woman in the book in a demeaning way ("his pretty little friend"), is combative for no reason, and she and her supporting cast of cardboard characters spend their time giggling, guffawing, chuckling, chortling, winking and howling with laughter at nothing. She has amnesia, but asks no pertinent questions of her partner, boss, husband or children, preferring to behave in a completely stupid manner. It's written by a man, natch.
The crimes miraculously happen in incredibly short spans of time, and link up in a most ludicrous manner. Also, the criminal mastermind's motivation is simply, insultingly, that he has Asperger's Syndrome, a lazy and offensive stereotype.
Everything about this book is awful.
