This book should come with a warning: Not For Women Over 50
I bet none of the positive or fawning reviews was written by a women over the age of 50. Needless to say, I am well over that age. I have also read all of Ms Weiner's books, and consider In Her Shoes to be a tour de force. Unfortunately, none of Ms Weiner's subsequent books has come close.
Why in heaven's name would I ever want to read a book that provokes every ounce of elderly female angst it can possibly call upon? Why would anyone? I realize not all books have happy endings, but this book revels in the excruciating details. And the protagonist isn't even all that old. . . .
I have already given my copy away.
