I bought this because I don't like the new kind that has replaced this style in stores, but this particular one was a bad purchase. The gears are not sufficient to reliably hold onto the edge of a standard can, so it slips several times before you get all the way around, and cannot pick up where it left off and so can only be started again if there's somewhere to make a new puncture. Now, if you do like opening a can to be a five-minute project, this is perfect for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. It's too bad that, as with so many things, can openers have gotten to where it's hard to just find the cheap, simple kind and have it work.
