Good for WHITE people. Not good for others.
While 23andme is a great personal DNA service for white people (people of European lineage), it is laughably mediocre for Asians, Africans, and everyone else. The level of accuracy and granularity for the non-white customers are astoundingly appalling. Fellow Asians, I would recommend that you look up samples of 23andme ancestry reports on the web before you make a purchase. Look at how many granular 'regions' 23andme can break down for Europe and compare that to Asia. I want you to be empowered to fairly decide whether or not you're willing to pay as much as your white friend for this caucasian-centric DNA service, knowing full well that the end product you receive will be of much lower quality. I didn't have this luxury at the time I made the purchase. No one told me about this. Worst of all for me, when I called to inquire, the company makes no apology for this quality imbalance. They make no apology for their 'serving-white-people-first' approach to DNA service.
