Psyllium Has 5 Major Benifits to your Body! Prop 65 update for unacceptable lead levels.
(Update 9/1/2019) Unfortunately this product now has a prop 65 warning due to higher then acceptable lead levels. This new information is really eye opening and while it’s true that heavy medals like lead are naturally present everywhere, the prop 65 warning indicates that this specific product has unacceptable levels of lead. Because there is nothing on the company information page that says they test for heavy medals and this product is not FDA regulated I have to trust the prop 65 warning. I’ve also researched agricultural practices for several different countries and Asia are known to produce crops with overall higher levels of possible cancer causing elements like lead due to there less strict safety standards. Without a verified certification Im now forced to look elsewhere for my organic psyllium husk, one that does not have prop 65 warning attached.
The 5 Perks of Psyllium-
After being swallowed Psyllium husk forms into a gel like substance in your digestive tract and is an effective treatment for a wide variety of purposes, here is a list of just five. 1. Cleaning & Detoxifying your colon 2. Treatment of cholesterol 3. Irritable bowel syndrom 4. Diabetes 5. Constipation relief. I use to order Yerba Prima psyllium husk until this version came out around 5 dollars cheaper. About a year ago I read a book called "Cancer step outside the box" by Ty Bollinger and its completely changed the way I look at food, I now eat almost completely Organic and GMO free food. As with all things I put into my body knowing this product is 100% organic just gives me piece of mind.
Detoxing & Dropping Weight-
For just pennies a day Psyllium husk combined with Bentonite is an effective way to start your own inexpensive natural detox program, When both are combined they synergistically work together. First the psyllium cleans the gut out and then the bentonite absorbs any excess toxins and or heavy medal molecules left behind. If I forget to take psyllium for a while this stuff works extreamly well at cleaning out my colon and dropping a few pounds the natural way, and if used regularly it will continuosly keep your colon squeeky clean. It basically scrubs and flushes out your colon and breaks up the waste and build up that gathers over time. If you have never cleaned your colon you might find yourself having alot of bowel movements after taking this at first. thats all the excess build up being removed from your body. For me the greatest benefit of taking psyllium is that it keeps my body free and clear of potentially harmful (bad bacteria) that would otherwise accumulate in my stomach and it routinely keeps my digestive tract flowing properly.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome-
Although psyllium husk is often used to treat constipation, recent research has found that it may also be beneficial for people with irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS. People with IBS often experience an array of symptoms that may make it difficult to determine an effective treatment. Fortunately, IBS can often be controlled through diet and lifestyle changes. Psyllium husk is used as a possible dietary addition that can reduce the symptoms of this common intestinal disorder.
High Cholesterol-
Psyllium has long been recognized for its potential role in reducing blood cholesterol. As early as in 1998, the FDA already approved a health claim on psyllium. "3 to 12 grams of soluble fiber from psyllium seed husk when included as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease" Studies have shown that psyllium husk is effective in lowering total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein or LDL (the bad cholesterol) levels.
Diabetics -
Individuals with diabetes have problems producing enough insulin or using the insulin they do produce to keep blood glucose levels under control. Consuming psyllium may be one way to help modulate blood sugar. In a 1991 study in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition," for individuals with non-insulin-dependent diabetes, taking psyllium with breakfast and dinner was found to reduce the rise in glucose after every meal during the day, including lunch. Because psyllium can lower blood sugar, you should talk to your doctor before using it, especially if you are on medication designed to lower blood glucose levels.
Getting it down the hatch-
I must let anyone who is considering this product know, this stuff can be hard to choke down sometimes especially if you dont take it with enough liquid, I highly recommend starting out with just a tablespoon mixed with 12 oz of water or your favorite juice and drink plenty of water through the day, hang in there it gets easier to swallow the more you take it. To me the benefits outweight the inconvenience. Also make sure it does not sit in liquid for more then 10 seconds before drinking otherwise it starts to become a thick soupy gel that is even harder to swallow. I usually add 2 or 3 tablespoons into a large glass of water and chug it down right after I eat a meal.
