I've had Bilstein shocks on every vehicle I've owned and been satisfied, however, my recent purchase of four shocks for a Ford F350 SuperDuty has been very disappointing. Installed less than one month I went off pavement for a short 2 mile ride. The front shocks got hot enough to melt the protective covers and then completely failed, spraying shock oil. I called Bilstein and was told that these shocks are only a "cosmetic" upgrade and are not intended to be used off pavement. In their terms, the shocks had super-heated and failed. They did not honor the warranty (no refund, no exchange). I'm out over $300 since I just replaced all four shocks with something that is not a "cosmetic" upgrade but a durable and better than OEM replacement.
