Needlessly complicated. Slippery tech support. You can have a better toilet and spend much less.
Four years ago I purchased the Toto A100 seat and fitted it on a Kohler toilet. It looked wonderful and worked outstanding. It provided everything I wanted. The heated seat was exceptionally useful in the middle of Winter nights when we set down our thermostat during sleeping hours. The warm water wash worked flawlessly. Combined with Kohler porcelain, we had a combination that worked perfectly. We moved to a new location and decided to renovate our new home. I opted for this integrated toilet that provided all of the features I was used to as well as drying, auto-open, and Toto porcelain. This toilet purports to provide a cleaning system that is superlative. The truth is that this toilet requires constant brushing if you don't care to look at yesterday's work. As a matter of fact, I would have to say that no toilet I've ever owned was more susceptible to showing stains. The toilet provides the choice of a light or full flush. Even many full flushes will not clean the bowl. Have a brush nearby. The Kohler porcelain was not susceptible to stains and uses less water. This toilet starts trying to clean the moment that you sit down. which would be alright if the feature actually worked. This more expensive integrated option also provides an air-dryer. You must be patient for it to have any utility. Probably several newspaper articles worth of patience. This more expensive integrated option also provides auto-open and close. This is impressive from the beginning and does provide some value for late night visits. The problem is that there isn't a way to adjust the sensitivity. Walking into our bathroom, whether for sink, bath, or shower causes this device to open. It is something of a nuisance. Several months after getting the toilet, we started getting mysterious puddles in front of the toilet at seemingly random times. Because of this and also the toilet's inability to ward off staining, I contacted Toto technical support. They had me send in photos of the installation. They told me that the problem was that I didn't use a Toto shutoff valve. Apparently because the Toto valve had a different finish, my plumber didn't use it and didn't keep the original. Now they won't support the toilet until I spend $70 on their shutoff valve. I'm thinking that the ultimate resolution here is to yank the toilet out and send it back. If I had it to do over again, I would opt for precisely what I had previously had: The Kohler toilet with the Toto seat. I would have gotten everything I wanted without all of the things I don't care for.
