i am so tired of close-up shots of james norton smoking, inhaling, exhaling, drinking non-stop and being an unpleasant person. the first two episodes seem contrived at best. no chemistry between the vicar and violet. that a respectable, in the 60s, young black woman would jump willy nilly into bed with a white vicar is beyond believable. after all the moaning and groaning and self-pity over amanda, to suddenly fall in love with someone else is ridiculous. if james norton wanted to leave, why not take the amanda story to its natural conclusion. he was acting like a father to the baby and he just walked away? and as much as norton smokes, i'll bet he just stinks.
