Let me preface by saying "I have a hollow wooden table as a desk". That said it's really not possible for me to tighten this too much; when i do the table starts to give. Just when i was getting it tight enough to hold and allow me to to move the arm the entire bottom half where the screw bolt meets the assembly sheered off. I was in utter disbelief, somehow my hollow table fared batter than the METAL on the bottom of the mount!! I'm going to assume these are going to cost a fair amount to send back, so i may attempt an epoxy repair or something similar.. As is, utter junk.
